8 Things To Do Before Buying a Website

Here are a few things to take care of before you place your order.

Before you speak with a specialist to go over the particulars of your website design, there is some stuff you can do to speed up the design process and make everything run smoother. Read below to start getting yourself ready. Don’t worry about the actual content that will appear on the pages of your website at this time. We’ll cover that later on.

Get a Domain Name

We need your domain name. This is the part that comes after the “www”. For example If you don’t have this yet, don’t worry, we’ll help you get it.

If you already have a domain name then we also need the login information so we can access it. We need to know where you bought it from, like for example. We also need the login name (this also is called the customer number or user name by some companies) and we need to know your password.

Purchase Web Hosting

Did you already sign up for web hosting? If you did, we need all the login information for your web hosting account. We need the hosting company’s name, your login name and your password. If you bought your domain name and your web hosting at the same time chances are this information will be the same. If you don’t have web hosting yet we’ll help you out and get you signed up with some.

Write Down Your Contact Information

We need to get your contact information for our records. We’ll need your name, company name, address, phone number and email address.

Figure Out Who's Going To Write This Thing

Your going to need to give us some content to build to website. This means that someone needs to write the words that will appear on all your pages. This is the single most important factor in how Google will rank your website once it is built. You'll need to provide us with a text file that contains all the words for each and every page. If you need help with this we can provide you with a writer for additional cost.

Find a Digital Version of Your Logo

Do you have a logo? If you do, we’ll need to get that from you too. You can send it to us as a jpeg, gif or png. You can also send it in a Photoshop or Illustrator file. If you send it in any other format there is a chance that you’ll be charged with a conversion fee. It works best if you send us a large version with a transparent background. The person who designed your logo should be able to help you out with this. If you can’t tell, just send us whatever you have. If you don’t have a logo and want one just let us know and we will design one for you.

Figure Out Your Color Scheme

Give us the primary colors you want us to use in the design of your website. If you don’t know, the designer we assign to your project can assist you. Think Apout a Call To Action

Come up with a call to action. What is the purpose of having this website? Do you want the people visiting your website to call you, email you, purchase something, click a link or something else? Let us know what you want the visitors to do and we’ll incorporate that into the design.

Gather Images

If you choose the banner design option you'll need to give us any images you want us to use in the design of your website’s banner and / or background. At this point you don’t have to worry about the images that will appear on the actual web pages. But if you want a certain image or images in the banner on the top of your website or a watermark in the background then gather them up to send to us. You don’t actually have to give us any images as we own thousands of stock images that we can use in the design of your website.
